Cooly can now announce Audiophile’s next line up for Saturday 10th December at The Book Club. Following the launch in October that saw guests Kode 9, Scratcha DVA, Ikonika, Okzharp, Terror Danjah play, December’s night is set to go off too, with Ossie, Bok Bok from Night Slugs, and Ghetto Fabulous Sound all joining Cooly for the night.
London producer and DJ Ossie found his voice in the post-dubstep landscape of UK club culture, hooking up with Kode 9’s Hyperdub for a couple of expansive broken beat influenced EPs in-between dropping the Detroit techno meets UK funky brilliance of ‘Tarantula’ on Lightworks. More recently he has taken on board more house sensibilities with ‘In A House’ and ‘Need U’ remix.
Ghetto Fabulous Sound are long time friends of Cooly G, three members juggling big riddims and dubplates. Radio DJ’s and Sound Systems would go on version excursions blending numerous pieces of a riddim. These tracks would include singers and DJ’s and led to the demise of toasting on the version/dub of a track and the rise of hype man on the mic. And thats exactly what Ghetto Fabulous Sound is bringing to the Book Club for Cooly on the 10th December.
A perfect finish to this line up is Bok Bok, aka Alex Sushon, an English music producer, artist, and founder of the UK record label Night Slugs which has featured releases by Girl Unit, L-Vis 1990, Jam City, Egyptrixx, Helix, P Jam, Pearson Sound, and Mosca. Under Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990’s guidance, the label/collective has developed a sound which was described by Spin Magazine as a mutable hybrid of grime, house, electro, R&B, techno, hip-hop, and dubstep.
Bearded wordsmith and all round good guy Pip returns to The Book Club to drop another load of top draw beats for your pleasure, alongside him will be 6 Music legend Sean Keaveny, DMC superstar Destruction, who has produced the likes of LL Cool & De La Soul. Throw in residents Discotheque Credits and Disko Stu and I you’re sure of a big ol’ party
